The type R drylining trim is used in conjunction with 12.5mm plasterboard where you wish to create horizontal/vertical reveal details. These trims can abut a wide range of internal settings, including suspended ceilings, door frames, floor skirting, window frames, and other drylining and finishing applications.

What is this trim used for?

Used with 12.5mm plasterboard to create horizontal or vertical reveal details at suspended ceilings, door frames, floor skirting, window frames and other drylining applications.

Can this trim be curved?

Yes, dependent on the radius needed. Email sales@qic-direct.com with the trim and the radius required and we will check it is possible and send a quote.

I need a shadow gap bigger than 25mm

Anything above R25 is covered by our Type ST range (ST30-ST100).

Can you make a bespoke size or profile?

Yes. We offer bespoke trims cut from sheet metal as well as other extruded lengths. Email a drawing to sales@qic-direct.com and we will send a quotation.

Can I get a different colour?

Yes. Other RAL colours and finishes are available on request. Email sales@qic-direct.com with the colour you need and we will confirm price and lead time.

How to fit Type R shadow gap trim

1 · Choose your size

Pick the reveal width: R6-R25 (6-25mm reveal). Need bigger than 25mm? Use Type ST. For 15mm board use Type RD.

2 · Set out

Mark the line of the reveal where the drylining meets the suspended ceiling, door frame, skirting or window frame.

3 · Fix the trim

Fix the trim's return leg to the metal channel/framing at the abutment, keeping it straight and level.

4 · Board

Fit the 12.5mm plasterboard so its edge is captured by the trim, and fix through the pre-punched diagonal slots in the plastering fin with standard drywall screws through the board.

5 · Finish

Tape and joint over the plastering fin, skim and decorate. Curved versions can be factory made on request.
